There are a myriad of different Mercedes-Benz SUV sizes and models on sale right now, and if you’re not accustomed to the lineup, it can be a tricky business picking which one is right for you. Some are surprisingly clever in their packaging, while others are outrageously wasteful in their use of space – all in the name of opulent luxury, though.

To help make sense of it all, we’ve ordered the entire current range of Mercedes SUV models by size, starting from the smallest compact models, and finishing up with the most extravagant flagship models.

13 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLA SUV

Of all the various Mercedes SUV sizes, the GLA is the smallest, and therefore denotes the easiest entry point into three-pointed-star SUV ownership. Typically, SUVs will boast plenty of cabin space inside, and loads of storage room, too, although that’s not what the GLA is all about. At only 173.6 inches in length, it’s a subcompact SUV, which means it’s not ideal for grown families and transporting tons of gear. What it is great at, though, is looking sharp, and darting around city centers. The diminutive proportions mean that the GLA is likely the easiest SUV to live with in built-up urban areas, and despite the smaller size, it’s still packed full of all the amenities and luxury touches that you’d expect from a much larger model.

The GLB-Class sacrifices the sleek lines of the GLA in favor of a more practical design, which provides more headroom for occupants in all five seats. Furthermore, the GLB is also configurable with a third-row, which means it can seat up to seven if needs be. That’s quite a remarkable feat, as the GLB is but the second-shortest SUV in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. This also allows Mercedes to capture a small section of the market, as there are very few seven-seat alternatives of this size and quality on sale right now.

While the third row is certainly practical, the length of the GLB does somewhat limit its usability to young children only, as the legroom available is just 29.1 inches.

11 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQB SUV

The EQB is simply the electrified variant of the GLB, and so the space available is very similar. The external dimensions are close, although the EQB does measure two inches longer, and fractionally higher, too. Crucially, the EQB also offers a third row, making it the perfect EV counterpart to the impressively packaged GLB.

However, due to the nature of electric vehicles, the EQB is notably heavier than the GLB, weighing in at 4,642 lbs in base form. This means that, while acceleration is more brisk, the EQB may feel more cumbersome, especially in tight, urban environments.

10 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC is the perfect compact luxury model. It boasts enough room inside for a family of five, and yet the external proportions are not daunting. Although it is longer than the EQB and GLB, the GLC SUV does not offer a third row of seats. Instead, this compact model looks to promote cabin and cargo space as a traditional five-seat SUV.

Key rivals, such as the Audi Q5 and BMW X3, also do not offer a third row of seats, so it’s not as if the Mercedes is missing out to competitors here either. Space inside is well distributed – front passengers benefit from an ample 40.7 inches of legroom, while those in the back receive 37.4 inches. The cargo space is less impressive at 21.9 cubic feet behind the second row.

9 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe

Catering to those who perhaps place form ahead of function, the GLC Coupe trades some practicality for sleek style and a swooping silhouette. Naturally, some headroom is robbed by the coupe roofline, but the GLC Coupe is still perfectly adequate as a proper family car – albeit possibly a little tight in the back for taller passengers.

In the back of the GLC SUV, taller passengers will be comfortable, thanks to the 39.6 inches of headroom on offer. However, in the GLC Coupe, which sits 1.1 inches lower at the tallest point, the headroom is just 38.3 inches. A loss of 1.3 inches isn’t huge, and so the Coupe model can still be considered spacious enough to comfortably seat five adults.

8 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class

Without a doubt, the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is one of the coolest and most desirable SUV models on sale right now. Furthermore, while the Land Rover Defender ditched the old school looks for a sleek, modern new look, the G-Class keeps things traditional with a cool, boxy design. There’s no denying the appeal, but how practical and spacious is the redesigned model?

At 190 inches long, the G-Class isn’t what you’d call compact, but it’s not humongous either. It’s significantly taller than most other Mercedes SUVs, though. Still, it shouldn’t prove too difficult to dart about city centers, although smaller models will be easy to maneuver and park. The amount of space inside is plenty, although it’s worth noting that the 190-inch-long G-Class is exclusively a five-seater, with no option to spec a third row.

7 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV

If you’re particularly familiar with the Mercedes-Benz model naming system, you’ll know that the EQE is effectively the electrified version of the ever-popular GLE. It could also be considered the SUV version of the E-Class – both statements are equally true. Unlike the GLE, though, the mid-size EQE is not available as a Coupe-crossover.

Despite the fact that it’s shorter, narrower, and lower than the GLE SUV, it weighs almost 800 lbs more – thanks entirely to the hefty electrical drivetrain, of course. Strangely, this sizable SUV doesn’t present buyers with the option of a third row, even though the smaller EQB and GLE counterpart do. So, if you were to compare Mercedes SUV models, it may not come out as the most versatile, maneuverable, or practical SUV on offer, but it can still happily seat a family of five, while offering up to 55 cubic feet of cargo space, too.

6 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV

One model that does boast the option for a third row, though, is this, the Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV. Not all trim levels will provide you with the option of upgrading to a seven-seater, but it is still possible with certain grades. The traditional five-seater GLE weighs in at an impressive 4,806 lbs, which is no surprise for a larger mid-size model like this. That weight will be felt though, and while it may feel like reassuring heft when out on the highway, it’s likely that this near-5,000 lbs SUV will feel a touch cumbersome on tight urban streets. However, the benefit at this level is a very luxurious interior, plenty of features, and powerful engines, including the 510-horsepower V8 in the GLE 580.

5 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe

Once again, the stylish sloping roofline of Mercedes’ Coupe models robs headroom from the more practical SUV models. In the case of the GLC Coupe, the design steals more than just headroom though, as specifying your GLC as a Coupe also deletes the desirable option of adding a third row. It makes sense, though, as the rake of the rear screen leaves very little space for designers and engineers to play with.

Despite a heavily modified rear-end, the Coupe model is fractionally longer than the SUV, which means it shouldn’t be any trickier to navigate and park. However, while the proportions won’t make it harder to park, rear visibility is likely to be reduced in the Coupe.

4 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV

A model name adapted from the class-leading S-Class, the EQS too wears the all-important S-designation, highlighting it as one of the flagship models of Mercedes’ aspirational range of premium SUVs. At 201.8 inches long, the EQS does not shy away from the fact that it’s a full-size SUV, and instead towers over the other electrified models in the current lineup.

While the EQS SUV is a five-seater as standard, the option is there to upgrade up to a seven-seater, by adding a two-seat third row. Legroom in the optional third row is not cavernous but certainly respectable, at 34.8 inches.

3 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV Maybach

The flagship of flagships. Anything adorned with the Maybach badge is a very serious bit of kit indeed, and this EQS SUV is no exception to the rule. It costs a fortune, boasts an insane amount of power, and is trimmed with the finest materials from Mercedes-Benz’s arsenal. Is there anything the Maybach EQS SUV cannot do?

Yes – it cannot seat seven, unlike the EQS SUV it is based upon. It seats five as standard, much like the ‘basic’ EQS, and while it does have an optional seating layout, selecting that option does not up the capacity to seven seats, but instead drops it to four. In this guise, the Maybach EQS boasts a second row consisting of first-class airliner chairs – effectively squashing any fears of cramp or discomfort on a long road trip.

2 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV

The GLS SUV can be seen as simply the gas-powered version of the EQS. It supplies opulence and extravagance in equal measure, providing the most comfortable and exclusive way to travel in a Mercedes-Benz – Maybach models to one side, that is. The three rows of seats are perfectly spacious enough for seven adults, or, the layout can be configured as a six-seater, too.

Behind all three rows, just 17.4 cubic feet of space is available. It’s clear that instead of prioritizing a huge trunk, the designers opted for passenger comfort, which makes total sense in a flagship model like this. However, with all seats dropped, a cavernous 84.7 cubic feet of space opens up.

1 2025 Mercedes-Maybach GLS SUV

The 2025 Mercedes-Maybach GLS SUV is colossal, in every sense of the word. It kicks out a monstrous and seemingly unnecessary 550 horsepower, and we say seemingly, as at over 6,000 lbs on the scales, this GLS will need a decent amount of grunt to get it moving. It also measures in at 205 inches long, meaning if you were to line up the Mercedes SUV models from smallest to largest, this would be right at the end, along with the standard GLS model too.

Luxurious SUVs such as this will usually provide more legroom for rear passengers, as you’re supposed to be driven in them, rather than drive them. This is the case here, as the Maybach GLS provides 43.4 inches of rear-seat legroom (up to 52.8 inches in the chauffeur position), in comparison to 40.3 inches in the front seats.
