Following its global reveal last year, the striking Polestar 4 has finally made its North American debut at the 2024 New York Auto Show. The premium all-electric brand has announced pricing and trims for the coupe SUV, with a starting MSRP of $54,900 in the United States.

Despite the name, the Polestar 4 slots between Polestar 2 and 3, which means it goes up against the Tesla Model Y and more expensive Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Mustang Mach-E trims. However, posher Polestar 4 trims rival the Cadillac Lyriq and Mercedes EQE SUV in terms of pricing.

Electric Drivetrains Range From Docile To Muscular

The Long range Single motor variant produces a respectable 268 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque sent to the rear wheels. That’s not particularly exciting, but this variant has a targeted range in excess of 300 miles (based on EPA estimates).

Thrill seekers will have to opt for the Long range Dual motor. With 536 hp on offer, the Polestar 4 can rocket to 60 mph in less than 3.8 seconds. The Swedish brand says it is the fastest production car it has ever developed, but the upcoming Polestar 5 and Polestar 6 will quickly steal that accolade.

Exclusive to the Long range Dual motor is the optional Performance Pack. This adds desirable 22-inch forged wheels wrapped in summer performance tires, Polestar-engineered brake discs with Brembo calipers, and a performance chassis. Seatbelts and valve stem caps finished in Swedish Gold round out the upgrades.

Generous Levels Of Standard Equipment

Buyers of the Polestar 4 won’t want for luxury features. A panoramic glass roof, 20-inch diamond-cut wheels, wireless device charging, a 360-degree camera, a power-operated tailgate, soft-closing ‘e-latch’ doors, a digital key, and power-adjustable front seats are included in the standard price.

Should you find yourself longing for more creature comforts, you can opt for various packages. The Pilot Pack (standard on the Long range Dual motor) introduces Pilot Assist and lane change assist. A Pro Pack styling package introduces 21-inch wheels, Swedish Gold valve stem caps, black seatbelts, and a Swedish gold stripe.

Polestar 3 Electric SUV Pricing Slashed By Over $10k

The cheapest Polestar 3 variant is now $10,500 cheaper, but it’s not the only trim to face a significant price reduction.

The Plus Pack is the most desirable options bundle. It features reclining rear seats, three-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel and rear seats, a Harman Kardon premium audio system, and 12-way power-adjustable front seats. Microtech upholstery, 11 kW AC charging, and a head-up display are also added.

Technology And Availability

Polestar vehicles are usually crammed with the best technologies, and the Polestar 4 is no different. The infotainment system, controlled via a 15.4-inch touchscreen, uses the Snapdragon Cockpit Platform and is powered by Android Automotive OS. Both Volvo and Polestar utilize this setup.

With Google built-in, owners can look forward to the integrated Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play. Over time, the Polestar 4 will be able to update its infotainment system thanks to over-the-air updates.

The Polestar 4 will officially go on sale this April. However, the first customer deliveries will only occur in the fourth quarter of 2024. Whereas the Polestar 3 will be built in America, the US-market Polestar 4 is expected to be produced in South Korea.
