Bentley Brings The Noise With Akrapovic Exhaust For New Continental GT
A unique option that Bentley has been offering on its cars for the last few years has been an Akrapovic exhaust system. Akrapovic is a Slovenian exhaust manufacturer that has become world-famous for its high-end titanium pipes. So, it makes sense that Bentley, a car company not just known for luxury, but for speed, would want to offer their products with Akrapovic bits. The partnership continues now with the newest Continental GT and Flying Spur models.
It’s Lighter, But That Hardly Matters
Being made of titanium and other alloys, the Akrapovic exhaust systems for these Bentleys do weigh less than the standard ones. At the most, Bentley says the systems save 10 kg, or 22 pounds. That’s not nothing, but in comparison to the curb weights of these Bentleys, it almost seems like nothing. For example, the Continental GT Speed weighs in at 5,421 pounds. So, 22 pounds is about 0.41% of the weight of the car. The Flying Spur Speed makes the situation worse at 5,833 pounds. The weight savings for that car would be just 0.38%.
What you’re really getting the exhaust system for is the name (which we’ve already discussed), the look, and the sound. The Akrapovic exhausts are quite attractive. They’re designed to fit the holes in the bumpers just as well as the standard Bentley pieces, and they have crisp details and creases that add some interest. You’ll also find both companies’ logos subtly printed on the tips so you know that you got the upgrade. As for sound, the exhaust is still active, so it can be quiet in normal modes, but when switched to Sport mode, they add some extra growl and howl under acceleration.

It’s Available On All Continental GT And Flying Spur Models
Bentley has two main powertrain options for both the Continental GT and Flying Spur cars. The base and Azure models have a 671-horsepower plug-in hybrid V8, and the Speed and Mulliner versions bring that output up to 771 hp. The Akrapovic exhaust is available for both powertrains on all trims. It doesn’t change the output, just reduces weight and changes sound. Additionally, the exhaust can be equipped from the factory, or it can be purchased and installed at the dealership. So if you happen to already have one of the latest Continental GTs or Flying Spurs, you still have an opportunity to upgrade your exhaust. Pricing hasn’t been given for the exhaust, but it seems to be available to order now, as it already appears in Bentley’s online configuration tool. If an SUV is more your style, you’re still in luck, since Bentley already was offering Akrapovic exhaust on the Bentayga.
