BYD Avoiding American Market For Now

A BYD executive has confirmed that the automaker has no plans to enter the American market.
Stella Li, executive vice president of BYD and CEO of BYD Americas, said that Tesla’s biggest rival will not sell its EVs in the United States, despite how lucrative it could be. “We’re not planning to come to the US,” said Li to Yahoo Finance. “It’s an interesting market, but it is very complicated.”
Li noted that BYD leads the field in China, and since China is the most competitive automotive market in the world, Li believes BYD can compete in any country or region and be successful.
So why would the automaker choose not to enter the American market?
