Ford’s Latest Recall Affects 2.2 Million Explorers
As of January 12, 2024, Ford is aware of 14,337 warranty reports connected to the issue. The affected units were manufactured from May 17, 2010, to March 3, 2019, with only 5% of the population affected, Ford said. As a remedy, a replacement A-pillar trim will be installed, while additional adhesives will be used to ensure the part will not detach. This, of course, will be free of charge.
Ford has tallied the most recalls in the US for the past three years, with 54 recalls recorded in 2023. The Blue Oval has vowed to improve its quality to counter this trend but admits that it will take several years to fix the quality concerns.
Prior to this A-pillar issue, Ford recently recalled F-150 units with the Max Trailer Package for rollaway issues. Hopefully, this isn’t the beginning of a trend in 2024.
