Hyundai Ioniq 7 To Receive New Name Ahead Of Reveal
The answer is unclear, but we’re guessing Hyundai wants the nomenclature to reflect its status in the lineup. Kia produces the nearly identical EV9, underpinned by the E-GMP architecture, so perhaps Hyundai doesn’t want customers to get the wrong idea and assume that the Ioniq 7 is an inferior vehicle. It’s also possible that Hyundai may soon introduce other EVs below the Ioniq 7 and above the Ioniq 6, thus requiring additional free space in the naming lineup.
Hyundai’s battery-powered SUV will be hugely important for the brand. Kia has succeeded with its three-row SUV despite a lack of incentives to lure buyers in. For February 2024, Kia sold 1,318 EV9s, making it a better seller than the EV6 and Rio.
