IND vs AFG Head to Head Records in T20Is- 1st T20I, 2024

India and Afghanistan go head to head in the IND vs AFG three-match T20I series. The series starts with the first T20I in Mohali on January 11, Thursday. The match starts at 7.30 pm IST. The IND vs AFG T20I series marks a momentous occasion for both teams and their cricketing history.

This is the first time both teams are playing a T20I series against each other. Before this, both teams have played in ICC and ACC events. This series marks a historic moment for both teams as the Afghanistan team travels to India. The team has already arrived in Mohali ahead of the t20I series opener on Thursday.

The Afghanistan team was announced on January 6 with Ibrahim Zadran leading the side. Regular T20I skipper Rashid Khan who underwent a back surgery in the UK is unlikely to play the matches. However, he has traveled along with the team to India.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman who did not play the T20I series against UAE is back in the side. Alongside him, Naveen-Ul-Haq and Fazalhaq Farooqi are also part of the Afghanistan side. The ACB recently revoked their NOCs for not being willing to sign their central contracts with the board.

The ACB in response listed out a few guidelines which is mandatory now to be followed by the national team cricketers. This will make them choose international cricket over anything else. While it was decided that the players will no longer be eligible to obtain NOCs for two years, all the current NOCs shall be revoked immediately.

The Indian team too was announced for the Afghanistan series. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are back in the Indian team with Rohit leading the side. A few regular players like KL Rahul. Ravindra Jadeja, Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj are rested from this series. Mohammed Shami is already out with ankle injury problems.

Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, and Mukesh Kumar are the three pacers in the squad, alongside four spin options – Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav. Several players who played in the T20I series against Australia and South Africa have been retained for the Afghanistan series.

Indian fans and cricket experts are awaiting the start of this T20I series with anticipation. They are happy about Kohli and Rohit returning to the Indian squad. They are also anxious to see Rashid Khan going up against the Indian batters in an intense battle. The likes of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, Afghanistan’s top two batters will look to have a good series as well.

Speaking about IND va AFG head to head, both teams have played four ODIs with India winning three. In five T20Is, India have won four. Afghanistan are yet to win an international match against India. For India Suryakuymar Yadav and Pandya are ruled out with injury concerns. SKY will undergo an ankle injury which is why has been excluded from the squad for the upcoming three-match series against Afghanistan, starting on January 11. Pandya, on the other hand, is still rehabilitating from his hamstring injury.
