Morgan Marks The End Of Its Old-School Era With Plus Six Pinnacle Special Edition
British car maker Morgan introduces a new model about as often as Saturn makes a trip around the sun – which is to say not often at all. But last year, the 115-year-old automaker brought a new Plus Four to market with a new chassis underneath it. Sadly, that means the end of the current chassis cars, including the Plus Six.
Morgan is saying goodbye to that six-cylinder car and the 50-year-old chassis that underpins it with a special edition: the Plus Six Pinnacle, which shows off the company’s bespoke services and decades of development of the underlying car. British sports cars like this inspired the Miata, so it’s no wonder that it has survived for so long.
This Shape Debuted In 1968
Morgan describes this generation of cars as the ones with “the traditional wing silhouette.” The company is referring to the lines of the car’s curving front fenders, and when it says traditional, it means it. This shape first launched all the way back in 1968 with the V8-engined Plus 8 models, not that it’s much changed from the 4/4 Series 2 that first went on sale in 1955.
The Plus Six launched in 2019, arriving with a new aluminum frame. Like every good Morgan, it still used an ash wood structure to hold the body, and it was the old-style body that it supported. The Plus Six used a B58B30 turbocharged straight-six from BMW instead of the 4.8-liter BMW V8 used in the final years of the Plus 8.
Each of the 30 Plus Six Pinnacle cars will be offered in the buyer’s choice of any paint color, including paint to sample for no extra charge. The interior of the cars, though, will be offered in one of three colorways.

All three leather options are new to Morgan. Fawn is a light tan, Riviera a soft blue, and Explore a dark brown with pebble grain texture. The cars will have sheepskin carpets in a color that matches the seats, offering the deep pile we expect from British luxury machinery.
Morgan’s design team has created a new stitch pattern for the Pinnacle cars. It mixes pleats and quilts and requires hand stitching instead of a machine because of its intricate design. The seats are embroidered with Morgan’s special Pinnacle logo, which was inspired by the hills around the factory. The same logo appears again on the teak veneer center console, where it is made from aluminum inlaid into the wood.
All-New Morgan Flagship Will Come In 2025
Every car comes standard with a photographic build record, which shows the car’s movements through the automaker’s historic factory in Malvern Link. Morgan offers a choice of graphics packages, including racing numbers, luggage racks, and spotlights. You can even pick from four different versions of the front grill and half a dozen top colors and fabrics to really make it special.
The BMW six-cylinder engine under the long and center-opening hood makes 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Despite this car’s vintage looks, it has a BMW-supplied eight-speed automatic transmission. Pricing starts from £96,995 including UK sales tax, around $126,000.

This is the last of the line for Morgan’s most powerful model on the old chassis, but the top Morgan model will return. The company is planning to launch an all-new flagship in 2025, likely based on the new Plus Four chassis and bodywork (which still has that ash frame) but with more powerful engines.
