Next £5 room diffuser makes my house smell like a hotel
For me, there’s nothing better than walking into my home after a day out and being greeted with a fresh, welcoming scent. Just like wearing perfume, it makes me feel put together and slightly more like an adult. That first smell impression is a big one, especially when you keep shoes in the hallway or have a pet. Odours can linger and become impossible to get out of your nose.
However, I recently discovered a room diffuser from Next that has banished unwanted scents from my hallway and made walking through my front door smell like I’m stepping into a luxury hotel. The best part? It only cost me £20 (but you can get a smaller version for as little as £5).
I’ve tried many different room diffuser scents over the years, but I’ve found many too overpowering for the space or too quickly disappearing. That’s before I discovered this White Jasmine room oil from Next. I usually go for heavier scents, think sandalwood, oud, and spice, but this fresh and clean option has transformed my home.
The room diffuser from Next, priced at £20, comes with five reed sticks to disperse the fragrance, a thick glass bottle, and 200ml of essence. Pro tip: If you want a new burst of scent, flip the reeds over, and if you’re finding the smell too strong, simply reduce the number of sticks in the bottle.
The White Jasmine smells like a summer’s day or a warm evening, and it has a super clean, crisp scent that reminds me of freshly washed laundry drying in the garden. If you don’t want to commit to the 200ml, the diffuser also comes in a 70ml option for £8 and a 40ml option priced at £5. The containers for all are the same thick, good-quality glass, but instead of five reeds, you just get two with the smaller sizes.
I’ve fallen in love with the scent and received so many compliments from visitors that I’ve invested in several other products from the same range and sampled a few from other places, too. There are currently eight items to choose from, including the three diffuser sizes, the White Jasmine room spray, priced at just £5, a jar candle priced at £8, and 24 tea lights priced at £5.
The room spray is perfect for spritzing just before guests arrive—or if the dog lets one rip—to freshen up the space. I also purchased the gift set, which is £12, and contains three 40ml diffusers in bottles and reeds. With the usual 40ml option costing £5, you’re already saving £3 by buying in bulk. There’s also an option to top up your diffuser without having to buy the whole product again with a 200ml refill bottle priced at £10.
Now firmly obsessed with jasmine scents, I also snapped up a similarly scented candle from F&F at Tesco for £6 while doing the weekly shop. It’s a slightly simpler scent than the Next range, but it’s also budget-friendly and easy enough to pick up while at the supermarket. While you can buy it in store, I added it to my basket while using the app.
It’s not as fragrant as the diffuser, but I can still smell it lightly when I walk into the bedroom, and it’s great for lighting just before bed to give the room a fresh feeling. It’s almost as good as getting into clean sheets each night.
I’ve also got my eye on this Diptyque Jasmin Scented Candle, priced at £58. Though it’s a more luxe alternative, the packaging is beautiful, and it smells incredible. According to the reviews, it “lasts for ages”.
