There might not be many Nissan truck models left – just the Frontier – but that wasn’t always the case. Furthermore, the brand is supposedly working on new midsize truck models. Whether we can buy them before the brand faces bankruptcy remains to be seen, but it’s good progress nonetheless. In the last decade, there have only been two main Nissan trucks models.

The Nissan Titan was a full-size pickup truck and the Frontier fits the midsize market. In this article, we explore both models and a couple of unique versions of each from ten years ago and today. Here is the rather brief Nissan truck models list from the last ten years.

There are only two unique Nissan pickup truck nameplates in the last ten years: the Frontier and the Titan. For the sake of clarity, we broke them up into three sections – the Frontier, the Titan, and the Titan XD, since the XD had different capabilities. We rank this list from the smallest to the largest model.

The smallest truck Nissan made in the last decade is the Frontier. Technically classified as a midsize pickup truck, its main rivals include the Toyota Tacoma and Chevrolet Colorado.

The first option on this list of Nissan pickup trucks from the last decade is the 2015 Nissan Frontier. The 2015 model came in the middle of the Frontier’s second generation, which had some sizable differences when compared to the current version. The most apparent is its choice of powertrains; the second-gen Frontier had a few options to choose from, with the 2015 getting either a 2.5-liter four-cylinder or a 4.0-liter six-cylinder. If you want the higher towing capacity, go with the larger engine. This truck wasn’t all bare-bones, either. Some equipment includes a moonroof on select trims, 4×4 or 4×2 drivetrains, and some off-road-specific features on the PRO-4X trim.

The current and only Nissan pickup truck for sale right now, the 2025 Frontier (3rd-gen), is a relative bargain as far as midsize pickup trucks go. We recently drove one, and our editor found it a dying breed of old-school feel with its naturally aspirated V6 engine, heavy steering, and decent starting price. You can pick up a base model for just $32,050 before destination, options, and other fees. As Nissan’s only truck, this model year of the Frontier has the most up-to-date tech, including a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a surround-view camera, and a host of safety features. You can also buy this model with the PRO-4X trim, which provides some factory off-road features like hill start assist and descent control, skid plates, and Bilstein suspension.

Nissan’s full-size pickup truck is the Titan – named after those of Greek mythology. This segment is packed full of competition with rivals like the Toyota Tundra and Ford F-150.

For a larger pickup truck, Nissan gave us the Titan for just two generations. The 2015 model year was the last model year of the first generation. The first-gen Titans didn’t have as much power as we came to expect from a full-size, V8-powered pickup truck today, but they were still practical and capable of towing more than the next year. Nissan’s well-known 5.6-liter engine was also available with flex-fuel technology that made the truck capable of running various blends of regular gasoline and ethanol up to E85. You could buy one with either two- or four-wheel-drive, and they all came standard with a five-speed automatic transmission.

As far as Nissan pickups go, the last model year of the standard Titan was a good one. We had the opportunity to drive the Titan’s last generation after its last facelift, and our driver found it smooth and comfortable as an all-around package that’s ready for anything. In the Titan’s final few years, it received an update to an already old powertrain that considerably increased power, but it’s slightly less capable at towing and hauling than the previous generation. If the given figures aren’t enough for you, though, consider moving up in size to the Titan XD, which we’ll talk about next.

Nissan Titan XD

Full-Size Heavy-Duty Truck

The full-size Titan isn’t enough for some people, so Nissan offered the Titan XD with increased towing and hauling abilities. Since it’s still in the full-size segment, rivals remain the same. Examples include the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500.

Of the few types of Nissan trucks, the largest is the Titan XD. This larger model of the Titan was introduced for the 2016 model year and continued to evolve over the last nine years with the rest of the Titan’s regular trims until it was discontinued last year. There aren’t too many cosmetic differences between this and the standard Titan, but the XD has an available Cummins turbodiesel engine. With the optional powertrain, the Titan XD can tow as much as some more expensive half-ton trucks. The XD models are built on a special frame and chassis to handle the Cummins and gas V8 engines, which also add about 20 inches of wheelbase over the standard model. Since the Titan XD was the flagship Nissan pickup, it also came with a more premium interior than the standard model.

The Titan XD was cut from production along with the standard Titan after the 2024 model year, but you can still find plenty of low-mileage examples on the market. When they were new last year, you could buy a base model for $52,850, which is about $12k more than a brand-new base Toyota Tundra. The latest version is up-to-date with Nissan’s interior tech, including a reasonably-sized touchscreen, standard heated and ventilated front seats, and an optional dual-panel panoramic moonroof. Under the hood is the same powertrain that has the same horsepower and torque as the regular Titan. However, Nissan claims the XD can tow and haul more, which is partially due to the XD’s unique fully boxed, full-length ladder frame.
