The Ram ProMaster EV is about to get a whole lot cheaper. While the 2024 model started at $77,995 plus $1,995 destination, the 2025 version of the electric van will be offered in more body styles that’ll make it $21,500 cheaper than before. Formerly only offered in a step van variant with an extra-high roof and roll-up rear door, the ProMaster EV now offers a more conventional cargo van body style that starts at $58,490 with destination, a staggering 27 percent decrease year over year that will allow more businesses and private customers to go electric.

More Variants, Cheaper Body Styles

For 2024, the Ram ProMaster EV was only offered in the fleet-friendly step van body style. However, the 2025 model year brings two more body styles on the carryover 159-inch wheelbase: a regular-length cargo van and an extended-length version, both with the ProMaster’s “High Roof” option that opens up 77 inches of interior height. Both versions of the cargo van will offer Tradesman, SLT, and SLT+ trim levels, and even the most basic model comes decently appointed with standard adaptive cruise control and forward collision monitoring, a 10.1-inch touchscreen display, and push-button start. Like the 2024 step van, all versions of the 2025 ProMaster EV come with a 110-kilowatt-hour battery that powers a front-mounted electric motor.

The ProMaster EV has a best-in-class 268 horsepower and 302 pound-feet, beating out the Ford E-Transit’s 266 hp and the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter’s 208 hp. The electric Ram also has some decently long legs, with a combined range of162 miles that rises to 180 in city driving. The best the E-Transit can muster is 159 miles, while the eSprinter blows them all away with a 208-mile estimate for the model with the 113-kWh battery – the one with the smaller 88-kWh unit can do 150 miles. The vans’ starting prices coincide with their ranges; the E-Transit is the cheapest, at $47,395, while the Benz costs $63,545 and up.

The Unique Step Van Is Cheaper Too

Ram didn’t merely reduce costs by decontenting the ProMaster EV, either. The pricier step van variant, which includes a single passenger-side pocket door instead of conventional front and sliding rear apertures, is now $71,990 with destination, $8,000 cheaper than before. The step van is unique in the OEM-built van space – the Ford Transit and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter require aftermarket upfitting to attain the ProMaster variant’s delivery-ready bod – and it’s also the only way to get an extra-high roof in a Ram van. For 2025, the step van also comes with adaptive cruise control and a heated driver’s seat standard, meaning it’s not only cheaper but also better equipped than before.

The ProMaster EV step van’s unique body hardware means it has a slightly lower payload than the cargo vans: up to 2,876 pounds versus 3,020. All versions of the electric van can handle up to 150 kilowatts of DC fast charging, meaning a 10- to 80-percent charge time of about 50 minutes in the rare instance an urban delivery van needs some extra juice in the middle of the day. For overnight charging at the office base, Ram supplies the ProMaster EV with an 11-kW AC onboard charger. Plugged into Level 2 power, the van can be fully recharged overnight, according to the manufacturer.
