The Audi RS6 Avant GT Is Priced Like A Supercar
Four years ago, Audi presented the RS6 GTO as a concept showing just how extreme the RS6 Avant could get, and earlier this year, the German automaker revealed the production version as the RS6 Avant GT. At the time, Ingolstadt confirmed that only 660 examples would be made, 85 of which would make it to America, but it did not reveal pricing. That has now been addressed; the RS6 Avant GT will start at $198,900 (excluding destination). In comparison to the regular RS6 Avant performance ($128,490, excluding destination), this represents an increase of nearly 55%. So what do you get for the cash?

No More Power
Like the regular RS6, the GT is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that delivers up to 621 horsepower and 627 lb-ft. However, the deletion of roof rails for the first time on an RS6 and the addition of lightweight components like carbon-ceramic brakes and carbon fiber body panels (including the hood and the roof) help contribute to a weight saving of 88 lbs compared to the regular RS performance.

0-60 mph is a tenth quicker than the standard car at 3.2 seconds, and the GT’s top speed is rated at 190 mph. Those figures make it three-tenths quicker than the 0-60 claim of the new M5 Touring and on par with its top speed. The GT’s brakes we mentioned feature discs measuring 16.5 inches in front and 14.6 inches at the rear, while three-way adjustable coilover suspension and a retuned quattro sport rear differential promise improved handling.
The RS6 GT Is Unique, But Only To A Point
22-inch Avus wheels, a large roof spoiler, a redesigned front fascia and lower splitter, new side sills, a revised rear diffuser, and unique front fender and hood components help set the RS6 GT apart from everyday traffic, but Audi won’t let owners go crazy with color combinations, despite the supercar pricing. Instead, every single one of the RS6 Avant GTs produced for the global market will pay tribute to the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO racecar from 1989, which means Arkona White paint, a red, grey, and black livery, unique badging, and white wheels.

Inside, RS seats upholstered in Valcona leather with an RS6 GT logo are complemented by red and copper double stitching and Crimson Red seatbelts. Buyers also get unique floormats, additional Dinamica suede (including on the dashboard), and a plaque on the center console that shows which number in the series they’ve acquired. Availability is expected to begin before the end of the year, and since so few are available, we wouldn’t be surprised to see scandalous markups before long.
