If nothing else, it’s ammo you can use when it comes to arguing about which company makes the best supercar.

Sadly, for most of us, owning the upcoming 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will only be a dream. We don’t mean to put a damper on your aspirations, but its estimated starting price of roughly $200,000 is almost as much as a modest house in the Rust Belt. The Number Of Seconds It Needs To Hit 60 MPH

Make no mistake about it, the 2025 Corvette ZR1 is the quickest Corvette to come out of the factory. If we peel back time to just a couple of decades ago, a 2.3-second 0-60 mph time was reserved for the likes of supercharged muscle cars and the highest-end hypercars. While the ZR1 possesses the speed of a hypercar, it will only cost a fraction of one. Finally, some real speed is attainable for those who don’t happen to be oil moguls or aristocrats.

The Quarter-Mile Time

A sub-10-second quarter-mile time is another one of those numbers usually reserved for purpose-built machines and multi-million-dollar cars. Well, the ZR1 does it without breaking a sweat. The 2025 ZR1 runs a 9.7-second quarter-mile, but if you equip it with the optional ZTK Performance Package, that drops to 9.6 seconds. The ZTK package is also responsible for lowering its 0-60 mph time from 2.5 seconds to 2.3.

The Speed The ZR1 Achieves In A Quarter-Mile

With a 9.6-second quarter-mile, you’d expect the 2025 ZR1’s trap speed, or the speed it achieves at the end of its quarter-mile tun, to be quite high. You’d be right, because it manages to reach 150 mph. In other words, after just 1,320 feet, the ZR1 is closer to 200 mph than 100 mph. Most cars trip the speed trap anywhere from 90 mph to 120 mph, so a 150-mph speed is extremely impressive, especially from an American supercar.

The Downforce In Pounds Created At Its Top Speed

Virtually every single automobile generates some form of downforce because of the air moving over the body. We’ve all stuck our hand out the window of a moving car, and the faster the car goes, the more force is put on your arm by the air barreling into it. Supercars like the ZR1 use the air flowing over the car as an asset. The best example is that massive rear wing, which effectively pushes the rear wheels into the tarmac for better grip. The 2025 ZR1 manages to produce 1,200 pounds of downforce at its top speed. That’s like having a thoroughbred horse sit on top of your Corvette.

The Amount Of Horsepower It Makes

The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1’s party piece is its engine, which produces a massive amount of power. The motor itself is a technological marvel, and carries the GM codename LT7. At its core, it’s similar to the LT6 V8 powering the newest-gen Corvette Z06, although with a few upgrades. The most important of these upgrades is its twin turbochargers, which make up the bulk of the ZR1’s massive power. The LT6 engine also has a flat-plane crankshaft, allowing the engine to rev much higher than the cross-plane V8 in the standard C8 Stingray.

We have to touch on the amount of torque the LT7 makes, as it’s no small number. 828 lb-ft is more than the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 makes on regular pump gas, and the Corvette does it without a gigantic supercharger strapped to it, although those two turbos do a lot of heavy-lifting when it comes to torque.

Its Curb Weight

The ZR1 weighs 3,670 pounds, which seems like a lot, but it’s pretty much on par with the famous Porsche 911 Turbo S. There are more lightweight supercars available, however. The McLaren 750S, which is CarBuzz’s Performance Car Of The Year, weighs just 3,062 lbs. But it uses all sorts of unobtainium to keep the weight down, and its price starts at $324,000.

Its Top Speed

Despite the Corvette being around for nearly 72 years now, it broke the 200-mph barrier just 15 years ago with the 2009 ZR1. The ’09 ZR1 was a C6 Corvette, and it managed 205 mph. The C7 ZR1, produced for a single year in 2019, bumped that up to 212 mph. However, the incoming C8 ZR1 added another 21 mph to that total. For that, we can thank the C8 ZR1’s massive 309-horsepower bump over the C7 ZR1.

Its Displacement

Along with its 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque, the 2025 Corvette ZR1’s LT7 V8 only has a displacement of 5.5 liters. When you think about it, America as a whole still has the tendency to stick to the old saying “There’s no replacement for displacement”. Except, these days, there is. Because of the ZR1’s massive twin turbos and other clever engineering, the 5.5-liter mill makes more horsepower than the 6.2-liter supercharged Demon 170.

Apart from custom shop jobs like the Callaway Sledgehammer, the C8 ZR1 is the fastest stock Corvette ever produced, and by a significant margin. The previous ‘Vette to hold this record was the C7 ZR1, and as we learned a minute ago, the C8 ZR1 blows it out of the water and onto the shore. The only thing left is to find out exactly how much Chevrolet will be charging for the thing.
