Best 2-Door Hatchbacks | 2025 Ratings
There are very few 2-door hatchbacks still on sale in the United States. This market’s preference for larger, more practical SUVs means that these tiny hatchbacks have largely fallen out of favor. Still, not everyone wants to drive a big car. These hatchbacks are efficient, fun to drive, and easy to park. Mini is the main player in this niche, but there is one other alternative for the 2025 model year.

Mini Cooper Hardtop
Mini is almost exclusively keeping the two-door hatchback alive with the all-new Cooper Hardtop. Despite all that’s new in terms of its design, it’s still instantly recognizable as a Mini, and the two-door model remains one of the smallest new cars on sale. Although we haven’t tested the new Mini fully, we did take the more powerful Cooper S model for a first drive, where we praised its innovative interior layout and improved refinement. It’s still agile and has lively handling, although the outgoing model provided the driver with more information through the steering wheel. The lack of a manual gearbox adds to the feeling that this is a more grown-up but less youthful Mini than before. Both models have a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which makes 161 horsepower in the Cooper and 201 hp in the Cooper S.
This new Mini might be larger than its predecessor, but it still feels agile and easy to park compared to most new vehicles. There’s some initial turbo lag off the line, but the additional power of this new Cooper S makes itself apparent with swift acceleration during passing maneuvers.

Other 2-Door Hatchbacks
The only other 2-door hatchback in the USA is the Fiat 500e, which we described as the perfect second car. As with the Mini, we have not yet evaluated the new 500e fully, but its BuzzScore and further information will be added to this list as soon as they become available.
