Honda has announced its return at next year’s CES with a pair of concepts as part of the electric Honda 0 Series models. Based on its teaser images, the upcoming concepts appear to be an update to the ones presented at CES 2024, especially the low-slung model. However, a closer look reveals that there will be a third concept to be unveiled, a body that has been raking cash for any automaker – an SUV. Will this be the electric counterpart of the Honda CR-V?
Honda
Japanese automaker Honda rose from the ashes of WWII and set about its business as a manufacturer of motorcycles initially, only launching its first car, the T360 kei truck, in 1963. Founder Soichiro Honda targeted the American market as the most important nut to crack, leading to generations of iconic nameplates like the Civic and Accord being among America’s best-selling passenger cars. Today, Hondas are renowned for their safety, practicality, and reliability, with a sprinkling of performance from models like the Civic Type R.

Honda describes the two upcoming reveals as dramatic new EV prototypes. To recall, the Japanese marque presented the Saloon and Space-Hub Concepts at CES 2024 – two visually theatric models that are bound for production and the future of Honda EVs. Yes, Honda is currently fortifying its hybrid technology, but it isn’t slowing down its electric push, with these vehicles arriving globally by 2026, on the way to an ambitious 2023 target in terms of battery tech.
The Third Honda 0 Series Concept
Honda hasn’t named its two upcoming models just yet, but based on the teaser, which shows the rear light graphic on both concepts, the Saloon could be returning with a major update. This retro-futuristic sedan with falcon-wing doors and the new “H” emblem was pegged to be the electric counterpart of the Honda Accord. The not-for-US Space-Hub electric minivan, also depicted below, won’t be appearing at CES 2025.

Based on the shadowy teaser, the Space-Hub’s replacement will be an SUV that adopts its outlandish styling at the rear end. We’d be remiss not to mention that the Space-Hub was designed for maximum visibility, with massive glass panels to complement the huge and flexible interior space. We can expect the same from the new concept but in a more popular SUV form.
“Thin, Light, And Wise”
Apart from the models, the company reiterated the idea behind the Honda 0 Series models: Thin, Light, and Wise. Honda will be providing more information about this development approach, but focusing on the “Wise” part, which will be represented by a new vehicle operating system (OS) and automated driving technologies that the Honda 0 Series models will use. Unfortunately, this means Honda won’t be revealing any three-pedal EVs for now.
