Few manufacturers can boast an SUV lineup that is as diverse as that of Toyota’s. The Japanese giant seems to have all bases covered, with everything from slick city-friendly compact SUVs, through to powerful off-roaders and even a fully-electric offering.
However, with so many on sale right now, it can be confusing to find which is best for you. To help, we’ve ranked the current Toyota SUV models by size, which reveals not only the most spacious, but also the most maneuverable models, alongside which ones have enough seats and cargo space for everything in your life.

Toyota is a Japanese automaker founded in 1937 that has developed a reputation for reliability across a multitude of segments, from sports cars and family sedans to pickup trucks and off-roaders. Famous models from the brand include the Hilux, Land Cruiser, Camry, Crown, and Corolla, the latter being the world’s best-selling vehicle nameplate, with more than 50 million Corolla-badged vehicles being sold since it was first introduced. Toyota typically competes in the mainstream market, but is also famous for launching Lexus as a luxury sub-brand to take on Mercedes-Benz.

10 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross
Body Length: 176.1 Inches
Based on the globally popular Corolla sedan, the 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross is the smallest and cheapest SUV on offer from Toyota right now. In this Toyota SUV comparison, it’s easy to see how diminutive the Corolla Cross is in comparison to the rest of Toyota’s lineup, with a bumper-to-bumper length of just 176.1 inches. This sees it fit into the subcompact SUV segment.
While that obviously means the cabin space of the Corolla Cross will be tighter than other models, it makes the nimble crossover perfect for city living. The humble proportions will ensure it’s easy to navigate tight urban streets, and with any luck, parking should be easy to find in busy centers. Furthermore, the Corolla Cross is available as both a gas-only and hybrid model, which maximizes the appeal of this compact SUV.

9 2025 Toyota RAV4
Body Length: 180.9 Inches
2025 Toyota RAV4
- Base MSRP
- $28,850
- Base Trim Engine
- 2.5L Dynamic Force I4 ICE
- Base Trim Horsepower
- 203 HP @6600 RPM
- Base Trim Torque
- 184 lb.-ft. @ 5000 RPM
- Base Trim Fuel Economy (city/highway/combined)
- 27/35/30 MPG
Clearly, size isn’t everything, as the second-smallest SUV in Toyota’s line-up is a global bestseller. That fact is likely helped by the versatility of the RAV4, as it’s available in gas-only, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid variations. Adding to the appeal, Toyota also sells the RAV4 in off-road-orientated trims, such as the Adventure and TRD Off-Road – the latter being the most hardcore. Those two trims are actually marginally longer than the other RAV4 trims, thanks to grade-specific bodywork, although the difference is only 0.6 inches. Thanks to its larger size, the RAV4 has around 10 cubic feet more cargo space behind its second row, when compared to the Corolla Cross.

8 2024 Toyota bZ4X
Body Length: 184.6 Inches
2024 Toyota bZ4X
- Base MSRP
- $43,070
- Engine
- Electric
- Horsepower
- 201 hp
- Fuel Economy
- 112 – 119 MPGe
- Electric Range
- 222 – 252 miles
Standing out from the crowd, the bZ4X is Toyota’s only fully-electric SUV. It packs 201 horsepower in its entry-level guise, and is available in both front- and all-wheel drive. All-wheel-drive models benefit from a 13-horsepower hike in output, thanks to splitting the drive across two motors. Despite the fact the bZ4X is available with all-wheel drive, it’s no off-roader, and is clearly geared towards urban use.
The bZ4X keeps things compact, with an overall length just 3.7 inches longer than that of the RAV4. The roofline is fairly consistent from front to rear, which means all passengers benefit from roughly the same amount of headroom – 38.6 inches up front, and 37.1 inches for rear passengers. However, front passengers are clearly prioritized in terms of legroom, as they receive 42.1 inches of space, in comparison to just 35.3 inches for back-seat occupants.
7 2024 Toyota Venza
Body Length: 186.6 Inches
2024 Toyota Venza
- Base MSRP
- $35,070
- Engine
- 2.5L Inline-4 Hybrid
- Horsepower
- 219 hp
- Fuel Economy
- 40/37/39 mpg
Despite sales success when it launched, the Venza will be retired by Toyota after this current model year. In terms of size, the Venza’s closest match is with the bZ4X, which is only 2.2 inches shorter from bumper to bumper. The Venza makes good use of those extra inches, though, as legroom is distributed much more evenly in comparison to the electric bZ4X.
Front passengers still benefit from a slight advantage, with 40.9 inches of legroom to play with, but rear-seat passengers will certainly be better off here than in the bZ4X, with 37.8 inches on offer. Interestingly, the Venza provides more headroom in the back than it does in the front, with 39 inches in the second row, against 38.6 inches in front. The Venza also has a tight turning circle, which would no doubt pay dividends for those who drive in the city often – it needs just 36.1 feet to swing a full turn, in comparison to 40 feet for the bZ4X.

Toyota Venza Will Die To Make Way For New Crown Signia SUV
The automaker’s SUV lineup is already crowded, so it makes sense to eliminate the less desirable Venza.
6 2025 Toyota Crown Signia
Body Length: 194.1 Inches
Toyota is working hard to revive the recently overlooked Crown name, not just as a sedan (which is the Crown’s traditional style), but now as a luxurious SUV too. It has been titled the Crown Signia SUV, and ultimately it will serve as the premium replacement for the relatively short-lived Venza. The Crown Signia has a more wagon-like look than other Toyota SUVs.
This smart hybrid is shaping up to make quite a practical mid-size SUV, with a respectable 25.8 cubic feet of space available behind the rear seats. Those seats can be folded down, though, which reveals a cargo space of 68.8 cubic feet. The Venza it replaces offers a very similar 28.8 cubic feet behind the second-row, but only 55.1 cubic feet with the seats folded. Clearly, Toyota is making great use of those extra inches.
5 2025 Toyota Highlander
Body Length: 194.9 Inches
Not only is the Toyota Highlander cheaper than many of the smaller SUVs on sale by Toyota, but it’s also more practical too. This is because it’s the first three-row model to appear in this list, making it the cheapest and most space-conscious way to seat seven, or even eight, occupants.
For the first two rows, legroom is fairly well divided, with 42 inches for front occupants and 38.7 inches for those in the central row. The third row, however, is clearly designed primarily for young children, as it provides just 28 inches of legroom. Headroom is still ample, though, at 36.1 inches for those in the back.
4 2025 Toyota 4Runner
Body Length: 194.9 Inches
2025 Toyota 4Runner
- Engine
- 2.4L Turbo Inline-4 Hybrid
- Horsepower
- 278-326 hp
- Torque
- 317-465 lb-ft
- Drivetrain
- 4WD
The old 4Runner has been around for seemingly longer than Toyota itself. However, finally, a full redesign has been confirmed for the 2025 model year. Details such as pricing have not been confirmed yet, but fortunately, some dimensions have. Much like the previous and very much time-tested 4Runner, this sixth-generation model will be available in both five- and seven-seat configurations.
This all-new sixth generation 4Runner raises the bar in terms of go-anywhere capability and high-end refinement.
Externally, the length is identical to that of the Highlander, but that doesn’t mean legroom across the three rows will be. The 2025 Toyota 4Runner boasts a much newer design, due to the Highlander debuting as a 2020 model, and it fills a completely different gap in the market. This means it’s likely to be laid out differently inside, although we’ll have to wait for Toyota to confirm the exact dimensions before speculating about space.
3 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser
Body Length: 196.4 Inches
2025 Toyota Land Cruiser
- Base MSRP
- $56,450
- Horsepower
- 326 hp
- Base Trim Engine
- 2.4L Turbo Hybrid
- Base Trim Transmission
- 8-speed automatic
A compact footprint and spacious cabin are not traits usually prioritized by the Land Cruiser. Instead, the nameplate signifies a brutally durable off-roader, that’s equipped as standard to tackle all and any conditions. That being said, though, the latest 250 Series Land Cruiser is surprisingly compact, coming in at 196.4 inches in overall length. That’s not small, by any stretch, but it hardly longer than the decidedly more urban Highlander.
That does mean that the new Land Cruiser can only be specified with two rows of seats, whereas its luxury counterpart, the 2024 Lexus GX, can be purchased with the all-important third-row of seats. The Lexus checks in at 197 inches, which, while longer, doesn’t exceed the two-row Land Cruiser’s length by much at all.
2 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander
Body Length: 201.4 Inches
While the Toyota Highlander might be available as a three-row SUV, the Grand Highlander makes seating adults at the back much easier. As you might expect, the Grand Highlander is, of course, similar to the Highlander in many ways, but simply stretched, and therefore much more spacious.
The extra space is most noticeable in the third row, which provides 33.5 inches of legroom, in comparison to the standard Highlander’s 27.7 inches. There’s also a larger window in the Grand Highlander for the rear passengers, which no doubt would make longer car journeys a more enjoyable and less claustrophobic experience.
1 2025 Toyota Sequoia
Body Length: 208.1 Inches
Sitting pretty at 208.1 inches long is the flagship 2025 Toyota Sequoia – a properly capable and yet practical full-size SUV that can do just about anything. It’s packed full of luxurious touches alongside the latest tech, some trims are genuinely impressive off-roaders, while others are clearly geared more for the streets, with chrome grilles and striking 22-inch alloy wheels. All grades of the Sequoia can boast one mutual benefit though, and that’s acres of space. It’s easily the biggest of the Toyota SUVs by size.
The third row is a sliding row, which means legroom can be adjusted, as can cargo space – the trunk offers between 11.5 and 22.3 cubic feet of space, depending on which position the sliding third-row is locked into. Fold that rear row down for a total of 49 cubic feet, or, when needed, you can drop the second row too, which reveals a cavernous 86.9 cubic feet of cargo space.
